Celebrating our Beautiful Arts Community!

On Sunday, July 10th, the opening reception for Art at the JCC's Abstract Art Collective Exhibit: Summer Selections welcomed over 200 guests to the Federation's Bronfman Family JCC.

A recent VOICE magazine article explained: "The all abstract show represents 49 Collective members and a wide variety of media from painting, printmaking, collage, sculpture, glass, digital art to photography. From a minimal approach to a more intricate and complex approach, each Abstract Art Collective member offers their unique style and perspective...The AAC (Abstract Art Collective) has developed a broad definition of abstract which includes non-objective, conceptual, and abstract expressionism, where some forms may be recognizable yet taken out of real world context."

We would like to express our gratitude for the considerable effort required to make this exhibit a success. Everyone from the volunteers who baked cookies, and prepared in the kitchen, to the award winning artists who worked meticulously at their craft.

Art at the JCC is grateful to be a part of our thriving Santa Barbara arts community. This exhibit also features artworks by JCC regulars such as Margaret Singer, Mary Freericks, and Edie Ostern.

Please stop by to view the exhibit, buy art and enjoy some of the finest abstract works from local artists.

Gallery Hours: Monday-Thursday from 9:00 am-5:00 pm; Friday 9:00 am-3:00 pm. Closed weekends.

Exhibit is open to the public. Free admission.

A portion of all art purchases benefit the Jewish Federation of Greater Santa Barbara.

About the Abstract Art Collective

The Abstract Art Collective is a group of Santa Barbara-area community members who organized in 2011 to exhibit their abstract artwork in an all-abstract environment. The 80+ member group supports a broad range of media and adheres to a definition of abstract art that includes conceptual work where some forms may be recognizable. About Art at the JCC

Artist and collector Eli Luria (z"l) launched Art at the JCC in 1999 to provide high-caliber, strongly-themed exhibits for the Santa Barbara community. The exhibit openings often feature gallery talks and panels with artists, curators and collectors that draw lively crowds.

Art at the JCC is a program of the Jewish Federation of Greater Santa Barbara. Through its exhibition and outreach programs, Art at the JCC honors and shares the universality of Jewish values, history and culture through various forms of artistic expression. The purpose of Art at the JCC is to provide Central Coast and other artists from all disciplines the opportunity to bring their work to the Santa Barbara community. Because art is a universal language, our programs will cross all boundaries of religion, race, gender and age, and strive to maintain communication. Its mission is to promote identification and connectedness to the Jewish community and the community at large.
