JLEAD Launches Kosher Food Pantry

The inaugural Jewish Leadership Education & Development Program (JLEAD) members are creating a Kosher Food Pantry at the Federation’s Bronfman Family JCC to support the special cultural and nutritional needs of our Community.

This project looks to combat hunger and reflects our commitment to the Jewish values of Tzedakah (justice), Tikkun Olam (repair of the world), and serving community members in need with Kavod (respect).

There are many ways to support the project. You may feel compelled to give money. Or perhaps you have a sturdy cabinet that you no longer need. Do you know anyone who works with restaurants or grocery stores who may be willing to donate? Or do you have some canned Kosher goods that you can bring in?

The JLEAD Kosher Food Pantry, hopes to offer the following to anyone in need.

  • Manischewitz products
  • Canned goods (e.g. beans, vegetables, soups, tuna)
  • Pasta
  • Kosher gelatin powder
  • Gefilte fish (in a jar)
  • Matzo ball soup mix
  • Durable fruit (e.g., apples, oranges)
  • Crackers
  • Juice
  • Various oils (cooking, eating)
  • Shabbat supplies
  • Toiletries
  • Jewish holiday appropriate items

JLEAD seeks to raise +$1,000 to launch this special project, as well as secure donations of Kosher food. With a $500 match from JLEAD members and their mentors, please help us to build a strong future for Santa Barbara’s only Kosher Food Pantry.
